The 5 Best Halal Food options in Niagara Falls

If you’re visiting Canada, it is almost impossible to not visit Niagara Falls. Not only is it one of the Natural Wonders of the world it also happens to be my personal “go to”  quick getaway destination for the last decade. It’s only a 1.5 hour drive away from where I live and it’s a trip I can plan last minute. For this reason, I have had a chance to try out many of the Halal food options in Niagara Falls and here are my top 5 picks in no particular order.

All restaurants listed below are 100% Halal and no alcohol is served on premises.

Pita on the Run

Pita on the Run is a small Muslim family owned restaurant about a 5 minute drive away from the Falls. More then the food, it is the extremely friendly family that runs this joint that I like the most about this place. They have a variety of options, from pakistani/indian food (biryani, butter chicken and nihari), Mediterranean options (Shawarma, Hummus and Falafel) as well as western options (chicken wings, burgers and fries).

Despite being a little away from the Falls, I always go out of my way to have a bite at Pita on the Run. The plaza has plenty of parking and their prices are not as inflated as other halal food options that you will find walking distance from the Niagara Falls.

Potato Jackets

Potato Jackets is another good Halal food option in Niagara Falls. It is walking about a 10 minute walk from Clifton Hill and a 20 minute walk from The Falls. They specialize in Mediterranean cuisine so you can expect your usual Shawarma plates but their speciality is Potato Jackets. If you’ve never had a potato jacket before, it is basically a full baked potato stuffed different fillings. You can choose fillings like chicken fajita, steak, poutine and even butter chicken. Potato Jackets also offer a wide range of juice options.

Paramount Middle Eastern Kitchen (prayer room available)

Paramount is the closest Halal restaurant to The Falls out of the other restaurants on this list. You can’t really go wrong with their menu. Although I personally feel their quality and quantity has suffered over the years, it is still a safe halal option. The best part about EVERY Paramount location is they have a dedicated prayer room which can be extremely helpful when it is time for prayer.

In terms of food, Paramount specializes in Middle Eastern options. You will find options like Kebbah, Shish Tawouk, Zaatar and all sorts of speciality drinks. They also have many middle eastern dessert options like baklawa and butter cookies.

Burger Factory

Juicy Lucy Burger

Juicy Lucy Burger

The best halal food option in Niagara Falls that offers halal burgers has to be The Burger Factory. Burger Factory is located on Victoria Street, 1 store down from Starbucks, making it a very easy walk from the Falls and Clifton Hill. If you happen to visit, make sure to give Juicy Lucy a try. They also have more meatier burgers that have up to 15oz of meat. You can also find funnel cakes, tornado fries and poutine here.

All Meat is Halal.

Osmow’s

If you’ve been around the Greater Toronto Area(GTA) you’ve probably heard of Osmow’s. I remember stopping over for a quick $5 shawarma on my way home from University way back in 2013. At that time, they only had a super small corner store in the city of Mississauga. Today, Osmows has over 115 locations across Canada. The  Osmow’s location in Niagara Falls is a short walk from Clifton Hill (less than 10 minutes). If you happen to visit, make sure to try their Chicken on the Rocks or Chicken on the Stix. Thank me later. 🙂
