Who is the Muslim Hopper?

My name is Raied and I live in the beautiful country of Canada. By education, I am a Computer Programmer and a User Experience Designer. I always loved to travel but I caught the travel bug after graduating university when my friend bought me a one-way ticket to Spain. It was the first time I was traveling by air to alone to a new country. I met my friend in Madrid and we did a 10 day, 11 cities, 9 countries backpacking trip across Europe. That was the changing point in my life and the rest, as they say, is history. Allhumdulilah.

Why Muslim Hopper?

The idea of Muslim Hopper started off one Ramadan when my brother and I set a goal of visiting 30 Masjids in 30 days. It was an ambitious challenge but it proved to be a lot of fun. We referred to this as “Masjid Hopping’. This love of visiting new Masjids combined with my love of traveling, backpacking and exploring the world as a Muslim, resulted in Muslim Hopper.

How do you travel so often? Are you super-rich?

Travelling does not require you to be extremely wealthy. Traveling, believe it or not, is quite inexpensive and anyone who wants to do it can. I am able to travel often because I make traveling a priority. I don’t spend money on expensive clothing or fancy cars. I don’t have a large home or a mortgage. I don’t buy coffee every day. I save money so I can travel more. To me traveling is important and I always find myself having the means to travel.
