Top 5 hotels to stay in for Umrah

Makkah Towers

This hotel is a personal favorite. It is located right beside the iconic Clock Tower. It is definitely a bit older than some of the other hotels that have opened up in the area and it is evident with outdated rooms. However, the services are excellent and the breakfast (if you opt for it) is great. The main advantage of this hotel is it opens up to the courtyard of Masjid Al Haram. You literally take one step out and you will find yourself outside the Masjid. The location just can’t be beaten. Another advantage of the hotel is that the elevator situation during prayer times is not as crazy as I’ve experienced in the Clock Tower. You can also take the stairs if you are staying on the lower floors.

Makkah Towers also has a dedicated prayer area that is considered to be part of the Haram. Although I highly recommend you plan ahead and try to reach the Masjid well in advance, there is a prayer room option if need be. There are also many shops and restaurants in the hotel. All in all, this is usually my number one pick whenever I go for Umrah.

Hotel Fairmont Makkah Clock Royal Tower

The Clock Tower is undoubtedly the most iconic hotel in Makkah. It is the first thing you see from a distance and your heart begins to pump a little faster because you know the House of Allah is near.

What you may not know is, the Clock Tower is comprised of 7 hotels. The top of the pick being Fairmont Makkah Clock Royal Tower. This is probably one of the swankiest hotels you can get in Makkah. The location is perfect, the views of Kabah are spectacular and the food is next to none. The only drawback of this hotel is the elevator situation. If you do not head over to the Masjid at least 20 to 30 minutes in advance, you will get stuck trying to find an elevator. The situation is a lot worse during peak Umrah and Hajj season. The last thing you want is to miss your prayer in the Masjid despite having accommodation right in front of it.

So plan ahead and insha’Allah you’ll have no problem.
